How to Measure the Plant of a Digital Power Supply
This download accompanies our video on this subjects. It provides a step-by-step guide on how to calculate the gains on a digital system so that you can measure the plant correctly. It can also be used as a detailed tutorial on how to assess all digital scaling and gains that occurs in a digital voltage mode and a digital current mode power supply.
WDS TUTORIAL: DIGITAL VOLTAGE MODE BUCK CONTROLLER FOR MICROCHIP'S DIGITAL POWER STARTER KIT
This download contains the completed WDS file for the design tutorial on the WDS User Guide. Also included in this download are all of the MPLAB project files nessesary to run the example project using the controller and coefficients calculated during the tutorial.
STEP-BY-STEP DESIGN GUIDE FOR DIGITAL PEAK CURRENT MODE CONTROL: A SINGLE-CHIP SOLUTION
This application note investigates the implementation of peak current mode control with slope compensation using an single TMS320F28027 (Piccolo A) MCU from Texas Instruments. This MCU is ideal for peak current mode implementation due to its dedicated internal circuitry which enables a fully digital slope compensation scheme. The theory of operation, mathematical modeling and all relevant equations are presented along with a detailed step-by-step design procedure in both analog and digital domains.
A design example and associated experimental results are also presented with two methods of implementation; one using TI's ControlSUITE and one using Biricha's Chip Support Library (CSL).
TI UCC3817 PFC DESIGN TOOL
This is a spreadsheet based PFC design tool for the UCC3817 from TI. Macros must be enabled to use this spreadsheet. This spreadsheet contains a simplified version of the Biricha PFC Loop Design (PLD) software. The full PLD software is provided as part of our PFC design workshop. The full PLD software allows the control loops to be automatically designed for both analog and digital PFC implementations.
BIRICHA CHIP SUPPORT LIBRARY (CSL) V200 INTSTALLER
The Biricha Chip Support Library (CSL) is a comprehensive set of APIs which allow easy set up and programming of the peripherals on-board the C2000 series of microcontrollers from Texas Instruments. This library includes many CLA functions which makes programming the CLA easy.
Please read the license agreement carefully. This library is limited in functionality. You cannot use it for commercial purposes. The full commercial library can be purchased through attending one of our workshops.
WEBENCH® POWER DESIGNER POWER SUPPLY DESIGN MADE EASY
This is a free technical guide for getting started with Webench®. The guide includes a detailed explanation of terminology used followed by comprehensive step-by-step exercises to get you started with your PSU design using Webench.
BIRICHA DIGITAL POWER LIBRARY (DPWR) V200 INSTALLER
The Biricha Digital Power Library (DPWR) contains a variety of functions for use in the digital control of SMPS, including two-pole, two-zero (2p2z) and three-pole, three-zero (3p3z) controllers for both digital Power Factor Correction (PFC) pre-regulators and further downstream converters. This library also includes many CLA functions.
Please read the license agreement carefully. You cannot use this library for commercial purposes. The full commercial library can be purchased through attending one of our workshops.
A STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION AND START-UP GUIDE FOR CCS5 AND THE BIRICHA CSL 6
An excellent start up document aimed at getting you up & running with the CSL, DPWR & CCS5 smoothly & quickly. It includes setting up the paths and the correct options to create new projects. It is ideal for engineers new to C2000 or CCS5.
GENERATING CCS PROJECT FILES USING BIRICHA'S AUTOMATED SCRIPT
This document describes how to create the necessary project files for CCS. The script creates two files: .cproject and .project. These files will contain the correct paths to the relevant controlSUITE header files and (optional) Biricha Chip Support Library (CSL) / Digital Power Library (DPWR) for the device that is being used.
Please see BAN106 for a step-by-step CCS installation guide and how to set up a project manually to use Biricha's CSL and DPWR libraries.
EXAMPLE PROJECT USING CSL & DPWR IN CCS5/6
This example CCS5/6 Project has the correct include paths for the CSL and DPWR libraries.
